In the village
Part-replaced, not re-plumbed
Small lots, older housing stock, and plumbing repaired a section at a time by a long line of owners. What we expect to find:
- Copper joined straight onto galvanised steel corrodes where the two metals meet. The leak shows at the fitting, not in the pipe. A dielectric union between them prevents it.
- Shut-off valves that have not been turned in twenty years, and either will not move or move once and then weep.
- Good new pipe fed through an old narrowed section further back, so the pressure never improves no matter what gets replaced.
